COMPOSITION

Each sachet contains:

• • Diosmectite — 3 g. 

INDICATIONS FOR USE 

·Treatment of acute diarrhea in children over 2 years of age (in addition to oral rehydration therapy) and in adults. 

·Symptomatic treatment of chronic functional diarrhea in adults. 

·  Symptomatic treatment of pain associated with functional bowel disorders in adults. 

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Treatment of acute diarrhea:

• • Adults: 3 sachets daily for 7 days. The daily dose may be doubled at the beginning of treatment. 
  • Children over 2 years: 2 sachets daily for 7 days. The daily dose may also be doubled at the beginning of treatment. 

Directions for use:

• • Prepare a suspension before administration. 
  • Adults: dissolve the contents of one sachet in half a glass of water, adding the powder gradually while stirring well. Preferably take between meals. 
  • Children: the contents of one sachet may be dissolved in 50 mL of water (baby bottle) and given in divided doses throughout the day or mixed with semi-liquid food (porridge, puree, compote, baby food). 

If there is no improvement, symptoms worsen, or new symptoms appear during treatment, consult a physician.

DOSAGE FORM

Powder for oral suspension, 3 g, pack of 30 sachets.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Diosmectite has pronounced adsorptive and gastroprotective properties.

• • Adsorbs intestinal gases in adults. 
  • Restores the normal permeability of the intestinal mucosa. 
  • Protects the gastrointestinal mucosa due to its layered structure and high viscosity. 
  • Stabilizes mucus and provides cytoprotective effects against hydrochloric acid, bile salts, and other irritants. 
  • Adsorbs enterotoxins, bacteria, and viruses. 
  • Strengthens the intestinal mucosal barrier. 
  • Helps restore the epithelial barrier damaged by the pro-inflammatory cytokine TNF-α.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

• • Hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the excipients. 
  • Children under 2 years of age. 

Use with caution:

• • Patients with a history of severe chronic constipation.

ADVERSE REACTIONS

·Common: constipation. 

·Uncommon: vomiting. 

·Rare: flatulence. 

·  Frequency not known: hypersensitivity reactions (rash, itching, urticaria, angioedema).

DRUG INTERACTIONS

Due to its high adsorptive capacity, diosmectite may reduce the absorption of other medicines when taken at the same time. It is recommended to maintain an interval of at least 2 hours between taking diosmectite and other medications.

SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS

·In acute diarrhea, the medicine should be used together with oral rehydration therapy, especially in children. 

·If symptoms persist for more than 7 days, worsen, or are accompanied by fever, blood in the stool, or signs of dehydration, consult a physician. 

·Adequate fluid intake is recommended during treatment. 

·Use with caution in patients with a history of severe chronic constipation. 

·  Due to its adsorptive properties, an interval of at least 2 hours should be maintained between diosmectite and other medicines.
