COMPOSITION
1 tablet contains:
pantoprazole — 40 mg.
INDICATIONS FOR USE
- gastric and duodenal ulcer;
- NSAID-associated erosive and ulcerative lesions of the stomach and duodenum;
- gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD):
- treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis;
- symptomatic treatment of non-erosive reflux disease (NERD);
- pathological hypersecretory conditions, including Zollinger–Ellison syndrome;
- eradication of Helicobacter pylori (in combination with antibacterial therapy).
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
- Intravenous administration should only be used when oral pantoprazole cannot be taken.
- Tablets are taken orally, regardless of meals.
Gastric and duodenal ulcers:
- 40–80 mg daily.
- Treatment duration:
- duodenal ulcer — 2–4 weeks;
- gastric ulcer — 4–8 weeks.
NSAID-associated erosive and ulcerative lesions:
- 40–80 mg daily.
- Treatment duration — 4–8 weeks.
GERD and erosive reflux esophagitis:
- 40 mg once daily.
- Treatment duration — 8 weeks.
- If necessary, treatment may be extended for another 8 weeks.
Maintenance therapy after healing of erosive esophagitis:
- 40 mg once daily.
- Duration in clinical studies did not exceed 12 months.
Pathological hypersecretory conditions (including Zollinger–Ellison syndrome):
- Initial dose: 40 mg twice daily.
- May be increased up to 240 mg/day.
- Treatment may continue for up to 2 years.
Helicobacter pylori eradication:
- 40 mg twice daily in combination with antibacterial therapy.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Ulsepan is an anti-ulcer medicine. Its active ingredient, pantoprazole, is a proton pump inhibitor that suppresses the H⁺/K⁺-ATPase enzyme, responsible for gastric acid secretion.
Pantoprazole accumulates in gastric parietal cells, where it is converted into its active form and irreversibly blocks the proton pump. This reduces both basal and stimulated gastric acid secretion.
Ulsepan also exhibits activity against Helicobacter pylori and enhances the effectiveness of antibacterial therapy used for its eradication.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
- hypersensitivity to pantoprazole;
- hepatitis or liver cirrhosis with severe hepatic impairment.
ADVERSE REACTIONS
·possible — diarrhea, headache;
·rare — nausea, upper abdominal pain, flatulence, skin rash, itching, weakness, dizziness;
· isolated cases — edema, increased body temperature (fever)..
DRUG INTERACTIONS
When used together with medicines whose absorption depends on gastric pH (e.g., ketoconazole), Ulsepan may alter their absorption (bioavailability).
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
·Before starting therapy, gastric and esophageal malignancies should be ruled out.
·The diagnosis of reflux esophagitis should be confirmed by endoscopy.
· In patients with impaired liver function, liver enzyme levels should be monitored regularly during treatment.
