PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Pharmacodynamics

The phospholipids contained in Sercensa are key structural components of cell membranes and organelles. Their chemical structure corresponds to endogenous phospholipids, but they contain a higher proportion of polyunsaturated fatty acids, which increases their biological activity.

Incorporation of these molecules into damaged hepatocyte membranes helps restore liver cell integrity and supports regeneration.

Due to cis double bonds in polyunsaturated fatty acids, tight packing of phospholipids in the membrane is prevented, increasing membrane fluidity and metabolic activity. This enhances the activity of membrane-bound enzymes and supports normal metabolic processes.

Phospholipids regulate lipoprotein metabolism by facilitating the transport of neutral fats and cholesterol to oxidation sites, mainly by increasing the cholesterol-binding capacity of high-density lipoproteins (HDL).

Thus, the drug has a normalizing effect on lipid and protein metabolism, improves liver detoxification function, supports restoration and maintenance of hepatocyte structure and phospholipid-dependent enzyme systems, and ultimately helps prevent connective tissue formation in the liver.

Excretion of phospholipids into bile reduces the lithogenic index and stabilizes bile composition.

Pharmacokinetics

After binding mainly to high-density lipoproteins, phosphatidylcholine is delivered, in particular, to liver cells.

The half-life of the choline component is approximately 66 hours, and of unsaturated fatty acids about 32 hours.

About 5% of the drug is excreted in feces.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

    • Hypersensitivity to phosphatidylcholine or any component of the product, as well as to soy, peanuts, or soybeans (due to the risk of severe allergic reactions).
    • Children under 3 years of age, including newborns and premature infants.
    • Breastfeeding period.

ADVERSE REACTIONS

    • unknown frequency: rash, exanthema, urticaria, pruritus.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

    • Interaction with anticoagulants is possible; dose adjustment of the anticoagulant may be required when used concomitantly.
