COMPOSITION

Each tablet contains:

• • active substance: fexofenadine 180 mg. 

INDICATIONS FOR USE 

• • relief of symptoms associated with seasonal allergic rhinitis; 
  • symptomatic treatment of chronic urticaria. 

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Adults and children over 12 years of age: 1 tablet (180 mg) once daily.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Fexofenadine is a selective H1-histamine receptor antagonist and the pharmacologically active metabolite of terfenadine. It provides effective antihistamine activity and does not cause sedation.

The antihistamine effect begins within 1 hour, reaches its maximum after 6 hours, and lasts for 24 hours. No tolerance has been observed after 28 days of continuous use. Its efficacy is dose-dependent over the 10–130 mg dose range.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

• • hypersensitivity to fexofenadine or any component of the drug; 
  • pregnancy; 
  • breastfeeding; 
  • children under 6 years of age. 

Use with caution in patients with:

• • hepatic impairment; 
  • renal impairment.

ADVERSE REACTIONS

·headache; 

·drowsiness; 

·dizziness; 

·fatigue; 

·nausea; 

·lethargy; 

·  increased tiredness.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

• • Fexofenadine is not metabolized by the liver and therefore does not interact with drugs undergoing hepatic metabolism. 
  • Concomitant use with erythromycin or ketoconazole may increase plasma concentrations of fexofenadine by 2–3 times; however, no clinically significant effect on the QT interval has been observed. 
  • Aluminum- or magnesium-containing antacids may reduce the bioavailability of fexofenadine. It is recommended to maintain an interval of at least 2 hours between taking fexofenadine and these antacids.

SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS

·Use with caution in elderly patients and in patients with hepatic or renal impairment. 

·Maintain an interval of at least 2 hours between fexofenadine and antacids containing aluminum or magnesium. 

·Although fexofenadine is generally non-sedating, patients should assess their individual response before driving or operating machinery. 

·  If allergy skin testing is planned, the drug should be discontinued at least 48 hours before testing.
