PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Fersinol Z is a combined anti-anemic drug intended for the treatment of iron deficiency conditions. The ferrous sulfate (II) contained in the formulation compensates for iron deficiency in the body and exerts a hematopoietic effect. It provides a substrate for the synthesis of iron-containing metabolites.
The presence of iron combined with vitamin C and B-group vitamins in microdialysis granules improves the absorption and utilization of non-heme (ionic) iron, prevents its pro-oxidant effects, and promotes better protein utilization.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
·hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
·anemia not caused by iron deficiency;
·hemosiderosis, hemochromatosis;
· hepatic insufficiency.
ADVERSE REACTIONS
Constipation or diarrhea, nausea, gastralgia; rarely — urticaria.
DRUG INTERACTIONS
Organic acids, calcium salts, phosphates, phytin, cholestyramine, and antacid preparations impair iron absorption due to the formation of insoluble complexes. Preparations containing pancreatic enzymes may reduce iron absorption.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
To avoid reduced iron absorption, it is not recommended to take the capsules with black tea, coffee, or milk. Dark discoloration of the stool is due to excretion of unabsorbed iron and has no clinical significance.
