COMPOSITION

Each tablet contains:

dequalinium chloride - 0.25mg

dibucaine hydrochloride —0.03 mg.

INDICATIONS FOR USE 

Symptomatic local treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity and pharynx, such as angina, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, stomatitis, apotheosis, glossitis, gingivitis, diseases caused by microbes, viruses and parasitic fungi (mycoses), as well as preoperative and postoperative patient care.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

The tablets are intended for dissolution in the oral cavity. The tablets should be dissolved slowly without chewing. The duration of treatment is determined individually by the physician.

Adults and children over 12 years of age are prescribed 1 tablet every 2 hours; after reduction of inflammatory symptoms — 1 tablet every 4 hours.

Children over 4 years of age are prescribed 1 tablet every 3 hours; after reduction of inflammatory symptoms — 1 tablet every 4 hours.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Dequalinium chloride has bactericidal and fungistatic activity against microorganisms causing mixed infections of the oral cavity and throat. It has a broad spectrum of activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, fungi, spirochetes, and other pathogens of laryngopharyngeal infections. It is absorbed in negligible amounts.

Dibucaine hydrochloride is an amide-type local anesthetic, reduces pain associated with inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity and throat, that reduces sensitivity and pain during local application. The anesthetic effect develops approximately within 5 minutes. The medicinal product does not cause dental caries.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Hypersensitivity to any component of the medicinal product; known allergy to amide-type anesthetics (lidocaine hydrochloride) or quaternary ammonium compounds (benzalkonium chloride); child before 4 years, severe lesions of the oral mucosa.

ADVERSE REACTIONS

Very rarely — skin rash and allergic reactions accompanied by itching.

Lidocaine hydrochloride: very rarely — toxic reactions due to excessive dosage or damage to the oral mucosa, hypersensitivity reactions.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

The efficacy of the medicinal product decreases when used concomitantly with anionic surfactants contained in conventional toothpastes. Therefore, Debara should be used no earlier than 30 minutes after tooth brushing.

Concomitant use with other anesthetics should be avoided.

SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS

Since the medicinal product does not contain sugar, it may be used in patients with diabetes mellitus. The product contains sorbitol and therefore should not be used in patients with rare hereditary disorders, including fructose intolerance syndrome.

Use during pregnancy and lactation:

Controlled studies on the use of the medicinal product during pregnancy have not been conducted. During pregnancy, Debara may be used only after consultation with a physician if the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.

There are no clinical data regarding the excretion of the active substances into breast milk; therefore, the use of the product during lactation is not recommended.

Use in pediatrics:

Debara should not be used in children under 4 years of age.

Effects on ability to drive and operate machinery:

Studies on the effect of the medicinal product on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery have not been conducted. It is unlikely that the product adversely affects these functions.
